V1017 SGR may have woken up

I wonder if the discrepants for V1017 Sgr are actually good data.

Hi Ray,

No, V1017 Sgr’s outbursts last ~150 days so single points can’t be considered as part of any outburst.

Your recent points are suspicious.
There are visual observations at minimum in the middle of your two observations.
And your magnitude 10.2 is exactly the V magnitude of the star 15" to the E mentioned in the VSX remark.
The fact that your last observation is V= 12.15, that is, 2 mag. fainter, and was taken just one night after a V= 10.15 point, is incosistent with the star’s behaviour.
I think that you are measuring the companion and the last observation might be including a smaller contribution from the bright companion.
I would check the images and re-reduce that data if you are able to resolve the two stars.

Cheers,
Sebastian

Thanks Sebastian.
I kept the BSM images so I can re-examine them.

Ray

Took me a couple hours to find it and fix it, V1017 Sgr from TRE is gone now.

Thank you Ray from your prompt reaction :slightly_smiling_face:
