For the past month or so I have been having login problems with the VSX site. I can login just fine to the main AAVSO site, but with VSX, after entering my login info and clicking “Log in”, I am still showing as Guest afterwards.
The “Login problems” link on the login page says to try deleting cookies for the site. After doing that I can log in just fine to VSX, but a couple of days later I have the same exact problem again.
Anyone know what is going on?

Not sure but this morning when I tried to log in to regular AAVSO site things were extremely slow.
Login never finished actually… it just stalled. At least it appears I am logged in here on the forum. Someone/something bringing the site to its knees probably… a human or an AI that is the question.

I should also comment that I am using macOS with the Safari browser.
This problem still persists. It seemed to be working for a week or so after my initial post. I thought perhaps it was fixed, but if so, it is back.

I’m sorry that you experienced issues logging into VSX. This is a problem we’ve investigated several times but have never been able to fully resolve. VSX dates back to 2006 and is completely independent of the rest of AAVSO’s systems. When we rolled out our new authentication framework a few years ago, we attempted to integrate it into VSX, but the underlying software was too outdated to support the required updates. As a result, we are limited in what can be done with VSX at this time.
Rather than investing significant time and resources in retrofitting legacy infrastructure, we are prioritizing the development of a replacement for VSX that uses the same frameworks as the rest of AAVSO’s systems. It will likely be several months, maybe even a year before this solution is ready to go though.
