Hello , i am new here to learn AIJ and cannot set Time Zone in DPCC?

Hello all,
i try to train AstroImageJ with dataset WASP-12 b.
My main problem :
I cannot set the Time Zone in DPCC . AIJ running under Linux mint , same problem under Win 11 . I used the WASP-12 b dataset . But i can`t find the thing to solve my problem . Time Zone is ever 2 and is never changing , if i try another observation point . I hope you can can help me ?
Best regards
Rainer

Hi Rainer,
I use AIJ, but never set the Time Zone, UTC Offset.
Instead, I select Custom Long, Lat and Alt entry in Observatory ID and enter the geographical coordinates of my observing site. See image.
Roy

Hello Roy ,
in the next time i will try your method , tank you
and best wishes
Rainer

Hello Roy ,
i did so thank you , but i tested first on WASP-12 b dataset . Lightcurve is ok . With my own data on WASP-93 b recorded with TEC 140 / 980 and NINA with exoplanet plugin the lightcurve was incomplet left from ingres point , 230 datapoints in summery .
I think there is a time problem ?
I hope you have an idea ?

Btw. How i can insert an image , screenshot ?

Best regards
Rainer

Rainer,

Drag and drop the image file to a blank space below the end of your message.

Roy

Thank you Roy for your information.
I will post example imgage tomorrow .
Best wishes
Rainer

Hello Roy ,

i tried to send a .jpeg image with 90 KB size,
but a requester told me i can`t embed a media file in my post
Size ?/ wrong format ?
Best regards
Rainer

Do you have a JPG file? That will work.

Sorry, I don’t know why there should be a problem with your jpeg file.

Hello Roy ,

Next trial  but same problem independent from the image format .
My os linux mint 22.1 XIA , browser:firefox newest version .

Bias,Dark,Flat, ok, Clouds = no , FWHM=1.79 to 2.19, date: 2024.07.22, 230x154 sec,no filter, TEC 140/ 980 F 7, ASI 1600 MC , - 10 C, bin 2 x 2
NINA with exoplanet plugin , target : WASP 93 b

Thanks Rainer
I can´t embed media in a post the system from the aavso site told me ???

Rainer,

I don’t understand exactly what problem you have. I do notice that your camera has an RGB sensor. How are you managing the colour channels in AIJ? I have a mono camera.

Roy

Hello Roy , thanks for your reply ,
my WASP-93 b lightcurve is incomplete,
but i used the rgb - Raw ! Files .
No channel management , my be this is the problem ???
Thank you for you help :pray:

Yes, I think that is the problem. Sorry, but I have no experience with or knowledge of handling RGB FITS images in AIJ.

Roy

Hello Roy ,
i tried only the red channel , the shape of the light curve is much better . In the future i will use cooled mono cam  for exoplanet transits !
Best wishes and thank you
Rainer

In AIJ I’ve been extracting Green channel from my OSC camera data. After calibration with the Data Processor, you can open an image or sequence of images, then apply the Color/Debayer to single color/luminosity 1/4 size stack(s) function. Select Green or other color and the debayered files are saved for next steps.

Dave W.

Hello Dave,

thanks for your help , i stopped after generate pipelineout images with DP .
Than i aligned the Images . I solved all raw images bevor i start with DP with astap . If i tried to debayer as above the programm told me : please 8, or 16 bit grayscale image ??? necessary .

If i split in 3 rgb images at same menu , than the blue , red ,green images lost their fits header , wcs data and i cannot use this images . What is the issue, whats my mistake ?

Basic data :

Bias,Dark,Flat, ok, Clouds = no , FWHM=1.79 to 2.19, date: 2024.07.22, 94 x154 sec,no filter, TEC 140/ 980 F 7, ASI 1600 MC rgb cam cooled , - 10 C, bin 2 x 2
NINA with exoplanet plugin , target : WASP 93 b
My os linux mint 22.1 XIA , browser:firefox newest version .

The Dataset from WASP-12 b , result, a fine lightcurve with AIJ, but monochrom data !

I hope you can help

Best wishes Rainer

Rainer - If you have lost WCS in AIJ, it may be that FITS Header Updates and Save Calibrated Images boxes need adjusting. In my case,I’ve checked General and Plate Solve boxes, and set up a local instance of Astrometry.net. This was not easy to do, but worth the effort. In Save Calibrated Images, the Enable box and 16 bit is checked, and subdirectories and Format .fit entered. The result was Green channel files with WCS info. I’m running AIJ on Win11, but the linux installation should have same functionality.
Let us know if the above helps (or not).
Cheers,
Dave W.

Hello Dave , ok where i can find a guide for local Astronomy.net ?
If DP is ready i can find calibrated rgb fits files in pipeline.out . I have understand that solving with astap is no good idea !
I think after get the pipeline. out fits i must align the images with process align with wsc
data .
Then at this point is the next step color / debayer … green ?
with wcs data .
After this step i can go forward ?
I hope i have understand , thank you Dave

Best regards Rainer :person_raising_hand::wink:

B.t.w. Why not the red channel ?

Hi Rainer - Sorry for the delay. I was out of town last week and no internet available.
https://adgsoftware.com/ansvr/
This web site has a good tutorial on installation of the local ansvr plate solver. I think a linux option is available, but this link describes Windows OS.
I used the green channels because the aperture photometry results were uploaded to AAVSO as TG (Tricolor Green). For my purposes, I did not align the images, but it could be done if appropriate.
I hope this is useful,
Dave W.

Hello Dave ,

thanks for your reply and the link above and noprob . I found the the installation of local instance of astrometry. net is tricky .
But now so i have a good information,
i will try it again .
Thanks a lot
Best wishes
Rainer
