Hi all, as mentioned in the title, my fits files (created by NINA) contain the RA and DEC information of the centre of the image. But when I open the image using AIJ, it says “No WCS”.
How can I change the setting so AIJ can automatically read that information?
Thanks ahead!
This doesn’t answer you question directly, but I hope may help a little. When I use AIJ I enter the name of the target manually in the Data Processor Coordinate Converter (see image). SIMBAD populates the panel with the relevant data. What this does is to allow AIJ to calculate of the airmass for the target.
As in your case, I also see “No WCS” above my images. I think there is a difference between having an identification of the target or image centre and having WCS data. The latter requires astrometric solving with astronomy.net or some other software. I don’t do that, but choose to enter the target name instead.

What Roy Axelsen says is correct: WCS info is different from the target, or image-centre coordinates. WCS info will be a set of several coefficients for equations that can transform pixel coordinates in an image, to RA and Dec coordinates.
In my own work, I use the target or image-centre coordinates to retrieve from a catalogue, a list of stars (and their RA, Dec coordinates) that are in an area around the centre of the image. Those catalogue stars are then matched against stars in the image, and that list of matched pixel x y, and ra dec pairs are used to calculate those WCS coefficients.
