This is my first attempt to upload images to VPHOT. I’ve performed several exoplanet transit observations in the past but have never used VPHOT.
The files are small at 7.1mb.
Using the Upload Wizard, sometimes the initial test image will load will load and then disappear from the upload box. I can click Next, and the “STEP 3: REVIEW HEADER” Page says that everything is good and I should proceed.
I’ll then proceed to the next page. Twice I have had the file appear to successfully load and then disappear from the box, clicking next brought me to the final page for the summary. Unfortunately the files never seem to actually upload or appear in the process queue.
Most of the time, the upload bar will progress and then stop halfway through, or it will appear to complete but hang up. On the rare occasion where the “STEP 2: TEST IMAGE” actually uploads and is checked, the main file upload will hang at 50% or near 100%.
I’ve been at this for about an hour now with no success, from about 8:30 am Eastern to 9:30 am Eastern time (USA).
I have also tried the simple uploader with no success.
There also appears to be an image “calibrated-T08-mitsuru-LMC-20250103-012713-Luminance-BIN1-W-119-005.fit.zip 1/3/2025 2:30:22 PM 4180638 bytes” that is hung up in the processing queue?
I have screenshots and also can share the FITS files.
I look forward to working through this and greatly appreciate any assistance.
Partial uploads, failing at 50% uploaded, would be a load issue. Just try again later.
I see in the logs that VPhot was having trouble writing to the header of the file you had uploaded…
But now its working? You were able to upload the file that was causing problems?
Conceivably the issue might have been that the Object Name was too long.

I have similar issues very frequently, just right now again, same like yesterday. I cannot upload the file , no matter how often I try and how long I wait, the bar stops after 5%, 50% whatever.
I can easily upload files to other databases, no problems at all.
Even worse, when this happens I often cannot open images which are stored in VPhot, just like this moment.
It had been working for me for a while, but last night when attempting to upload it was a major struggle to get files to upload. They would hang part way though. Usually the test upload would work no problem. This morning I found that if I uploaded only one file at a time, the likelihood of the upload being successful increased.
Once the upload hangs none of the AAVSO pages seem to function, as far as VPhot is concerned. I need to clear my temp files and then it begins working again. But then usually hangs up still.
Exactly my experiences. It helped yesterday to cut the images in size to get them smaller in bites. Eventually after some hours I managed to upload two!
