About one year ago, by clicking on one or more links in an email to The Astronomer’s Telegram, my IP was blacklisted by this website, which was quite annoying.
So, I have written several times to the managers of the Telegram (R. E. Rutledge & Editor-in-Chief Derek Fox, Editor), but they did not respond, initially.
Robin Leadbeater, on Cloudy Nights, then kindly suggested that I could write directly to these two people at their university professionnal email addresses, which I did. My access to Telegram was quickly restored, after several months of being unable to connect.
Now, last month, same problem; by clicking on a Telegram link in an email from BAAVSS-Alert, my IP was blacklisted again.
I have written again, and again, to Mr Rutledge & Fox several times since then, but they simply ignore my messages, and never respond.
From this I conclude:
1- This website is very poorly programmed/coded, and it detects a number of false attacks,
2 – Mr Rutledge & Fox absolutely don’t care about amateurs and readers,
3 - All this stuff is quite pathetic at this level of competence and importance in our community.
4 – It is essential to divorce from The Astronomer’ Telegram, which no longer deserves my consideration, however humble it may be.
The corollary question: which website to replace Telegram with? How to obtain first-hand informations and astronomical alerts of the same kind?
What can you advise me?
Any suggestions are welcome,
Cheers,
Christophe
