I’ve been using the Seestar for ~ year now and experimenting with the Seestar_Alp application. Now, I can reach targets below the celestial equator while equatorially mounted and have the ability to alter the gains, dithering ,and also use longer integrations.
I’ve constructed a small array of (3) S50’s and have begun monitoring variable stars and minor planets. I recently conducted several extended runs of BH Aur using 60s exposures. ~ 1250 observations were debayered, aligned, and the green channel extracted for further analysis in TychoTracker.
The period found from these data sets is 10.948 +/- 0.003hrs which is in close agreement with the professional literature. I think this is an encouraging result that demonstrates the capabilities of the S50 for photometry applications. See below.
