View here: Details for VY Aqr observing campaign
Abstract: Patrick Schmeer has identified that VY Aqr, an accreting white dwarf (aka cataclysmic variable) has gone into an outburst that looks to be a superoutburst. Despite being a relatively nearby cataclysmic variable that undergoes dwarf nova outbursts, VY Aqr is relatively understudied. Astronomers, both professional and amateur, now have the opportunity to study this superoutbursting WD in detail.
Justification: Superoutbursts are relatively rare and VY Aqr is relatively understudied. Observing this event can provide valuable insights about accreting white dwarfs and their superoutbursts.
