We’re excited to announce that the meeting will begin with Dr. Robert Nemiroff as our special guest speaker. Dr. Nemiroff is a renowned astrophysicist, co-creator of NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD), and an expert in gamma-ray bursts.

His talk will include, “The Great Astronomy Debate of 1995: The Distance Scale to Gamma-Ray Bursts” which discusses how the GRB community used to be divided between a galactic and cosmological setting for GRBs, NASA’s APOD, and recent theories of GRBs.

The agenda for the meeting will follow:

  1. Updates on Initiatives within KNC:
  • Review feedback from.
  • Review of results from the Topic Request Form and discussion on its importance.
  • Re-introduction of the Photo of the Week initiative, with a look at potential candidates.
  1. Updates on tutorials being developed (with the expertise of Mike Freeberg and Marc Serrau) including:
  • A tutorial document formatted with KNC graphic charts.
  • Potential video tutorials.
  • Plans for practical sessions based on community preferences for tutorial materials.
  • This session is a good time to specify the topics you want us to answer regarding follow up protocol and instructional videos. How can we help you?

We look forward to seeing you all there and discussing how we can continue to grow and strengthen the KNC community.

Regards,

Cristina Andrade
