I am updating my observing journal and have several Tycho Variables I have observed in the past year. Apparently the appeared in responses from VSX. Now I cannot find them in VSX radial searches, nor by direct ID entry… Example TYC 3522-589-1. Has something changes or do I have the wrong query syntax?
Nothing has changed in VSX, and the TYC ID general format syntax you wrote is fine, but there is no such TYC 3522-589-1 star, not only in VSX but also in the Tycho catalog, so you are probably getting the numbers in the Tycho name wrong. Double check.
Cheers,
Sebastian
PS: maybe you made up that Tycho ID just to show an example… in that case, it is OK.
Here is a link to the star in question from the Harvard Simbad Mirror
Give it a try from VSX and see what you get. I am pretty sure I picked this as a target that needed follow up from a VSX region query a couple of months ago.

Hi John,
Check that the SIMBAD link doesn’t work because the identifier has a + in the link before the 3622.
Besides that, it is not possible that you have selected this star because it is not in VSX. And it never was. The SIMBAD reference is for the Gaia DR3 catalog of variable stars and that catalog will be added to VSX in the days to come.
Also, what do you mean with “the target needed follow up”? Where did you get that information?
