Where is the observation planner tool?

I’m not sure where to post this, so I’m putting it here. There was an observation planner tool in the old web page that I used to look for potential targets for observations. I hope that it is still available, but I can’t find it. Can someone help me with this?

Allen:

Do you mean ‘Target Tool’? On the AAVSO main page, click on Tools in the upper right area. Then scroll down to the next to last item (Target Tool). HTH.

Ken,

Target Tool is not the same. With the old Observation Planner, I could put in the type of object I wanted to look for, and other parameters including the ability to look for objects that would transit next month or the month after etc. The resulting list included essentially the same information as the Target Tool, but also included the number of observations in the database for each object. It was easier for me to use to plan for possible future observations. I can probably get the same information from the Target Tool, and VSX combined, but I don’t know how to look for things that I might want to observe next month. Since I no longer have access to an observatory, I am dependent on the AAVSOnet, and I want to submit my proposals early enough to get observations near the time when the object transits around midnight.

Basic Google AI search is almost, almost always your friend!

Yes, that is a very useful tool to have… never seen it or used it before here but time is money!

THANKS! I’ll bookmark it.
