Vstar 2.25.0 set default directory

Is there a way to set the default startup directory when running a local Vstar?

My local observation files don’t live in the windows top of the file system that Vstar starts up in. Many layers below and not on the system disk so the user has many clicks to get into the general area of the file system where my data files live.

Thanks!

p.s. I tried setting a path in the .ini file VSTAR_HOME= to a valid path but VSTAR won’t run until I restore the null path value.

p.s.2 I see now that VSTAR_HOME= is not the working directory for data when Vstar stars up but is the directory where Vstar was installed to… so not what I’m wanting.

Not yet but it’s a good suggestion. I have captured this here: Add a preference setting for default data directory · Issue #608 · AAVSO/VStar · GitHub

For every issue merged into the master branch, a snapshot release is created even before an official release, so watching that issue will let you know when you can try it.

Thanks.

Has this been done? As far as I can tell it hasn’t. Not a big deal… it would just save me a few steps in going down the directory tree every time I run it …

Thanks for your efforts.

Not yet Jim, but it will be in the next official release but when the issue is completed the latest snapshot release will have it. I will let you know when that exists.
