VSP not responding

Hi,

Since several days the VSP is not responding…
What can be causing this?

Regards,
Eddy

Greetings,

The list of standard fields is not showing again. I observed M-11 with a new DSLR and lens. I have never used M-11 so would love to get the M-11 standard chart and photometry back so I may continue with my transformation determinations.

Thanks much,

Jim (DEY)

Thanks, the list is back…

M-11 chart is unusable IMHO. Way to many stars and impossible to ID from the chart labels. Plus first few stars I checked seem just WRONG!

The trapezoid of stars in the south-east quadrant labeled: 118, 120, 129 and 121 can’t be correct.

I’ll try observing another field next clear night!

Thanks for your efforts.

Jim (DEY)

You might consider using Peter Stetson’s data for NGC 6940, which is well placed just now, farther north, less crowded, and encompasses a wide range of star-colors. His files are a bit inconvenient to use since the photometry and astrometry are in separate lists, but have a look:

Thanks… however, M-11 has errors as well and should be corrected or removed.

I used it once in 2019 and didn’t use the clearly wrong stars or I rejected them as outliers, not sure which.

I took SA-110 the following night with the new system. Much better. As Johnny Bench used to say, “No drips, no runs, no errors”.

Brian,

I see I had grabbed that back in June. I’ll give the field a try next time we get any clear weather…

Thanks again,

Jim (DEY)

One initial note on the images: Clearly the plate-solve coefs. in the fits header are not correct. Close, not that close, so no banana! One must use the text file with star coordinates for matching.

VSP seems not to be plotting comp star magnitudes on the charts. Please advise.
Rick (HUZ)

Ummm … just ignore me :frowning: I had the ‘binocular’ button chosen on the form (which I never do) and that does not plot dim comp stars. I think I am getting old! Sorry for this! No problem with vsp!
