Using Machine Learning to Classify Variable Stars

I have been exploring variable star data from AAVSO and would like to learn how machine learning can be utilized to classify stars based on their light curves. What models or approaches are commonly used for analyzing this type of time-series data in astronomy? Any tips or resources would be greatly appreciated!

Many papers on this topic have already been published in the refereed literature, so there should be plenty for you to read. I suggest you visit the Astrophysics Data Service and search for Abstracts containing the words “variable star classification automatic”. The link after my name will show you the results: 192 papers.
