I have a student working on making transformation coefficients following the instructions from the user’s manual section 3.4.3 using VPhot file format method (not AIP). Sometimes, when we load all our filter text files and click Calculate, nothing happens, but if we load one at a time, we get a table with results. I think we need to have all our filter files loaded in order to calculate accurate transformation coefficients, but I’m curious why nothing happens when we click Calculate. Is there any sort of log that we can access to see what’s wrong? Or if nothing happens, does that just mean that the calculation was not successful?
Thanks Ken. I found instructions that you wrote for the AIP method. Do I just assume that using AIP is the preferred way or most consistent?
I’ve been intermittently getting results with the procedure I’ve been doing, but it’s not consistent. So I know it works or at least it seems to some of the time.
The Guide has older instructions that were used on a previous version of VPhot. They do still work under some conditions that I just don’t remember any more.
The new instructions do save a more efficient time series photometry file in a General Export/aip4fmt but it obviously has nothing to do with analyzing your images with AIP4Win. You used VPhot to analyze your Standard Field images.
It just provided a specific instrumental magnitude format that George found easier to work with in TG.
