Skychart - Cartes du Ciel - LINUX

Hello.

Does anybody have a clue about solving installation issues in Linux Kubuntu?

I have here the output of my attempt:

ari@ari-asus:~$ sudo apt install /home/ari/Downloads/skychart_4.2.1-4073_amd64.deb
[sudo] password for ari:
Reading package lists… Done
Building dependency tree… Done
Reading state information… Done
Note, selecting ‘skychart’ instead of ‘/home/ari/Downloads/skychart_4.2.1-4073_amd64.deb’
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
skychart : Depends: libpango1.0-0 but it is not installable
Recommends: indistarter but it is not installable
Recommends: skychart-data-stars but it is not installable
Recommends: skychart-data-dso but it is not installable
Recommends: skychart-data-pictures but it is not installable

I’m not an expert, but I think your problem is that your machine already has an install of an earlier version. You may need to remove that before installing the new version.
Really, you should ask the authors of Cartes du Ciel for help - they are the experts.
Good luck,
Colin

On Linux Mint, which is built on Ubuntu, Cartes du Ciel can be installed via the software manager. I’d start by checking your software manager to see what you have installed. Then try installing (or reinstalling) from the manager. If that doesn’t help you also should have the Synaptic package manager (or be able to install it) which is better for checking dependencies. Interestingly, I have CdC installed (and working!) but not libpango1.0-0 or indistarter. I hope you resolve your problem.
