Recent Vphot issues

Hello,

as you are probably aware, Vphot is experiencing some issues in the last few days.

One of the issue is related to the disk space available, as recently we saw a siginificant increase in tne number and size of the images uploaded.

This increase has caused in a few occasions the filling up of the server disk followed by a crash of the application.

To solve this we were forced to decrease the time images are kept on the server, it’s now 12 days and it could possibly be further decreased.

Please remember that Vphot is a shared resource and delete the images after having done your analysis.

Another issue Vphot is experiencing is related to the Out Of Memory errors some of you have posted about.

The Vphot team is actively investigating these errors to pinpoint the scenario that is leading to these errors but we don’t have yet a complete resolution of the issue.

For the time being if you see errors please wait some time and retry the operation, in most cases is going to work. If you post a message about the error you have encountered please specify all the details, like number of images involved, number of different filters, exact time when you saw the error etc

As a final note I’d like to point out that Vphot is maintained by two volunteers, one of which is working a full-time job, so please have a bit of patience and rest assured that everything possible is being done.

I broke TA then fixed it:

This site can’t be reached

The webpage at VPhot - Instant photometry of remote telescope CCD images might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR
app/restricted/TransformApplier.aspx might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

VPHOT itself was up

I fixed it, however; My file was over 1400 lines. I split in two and lost about 20 observations due to not having matching BVIs in the same files.

Hi,

well let’s just say that you abused it a little

Anyway in these cases nothing really broke…

you just have to split your file

As a rule of thumb better not to go over a thousand lines
