I have just had a mail from a local observer who is getting interested in variables using seestar. He was under the impression that the period of SS Cyg was 0.275 days presumably because that is the figure given on charts. I had to point out that this figure is completely irrelevant - and obviously misleading - to most observers. Whilst understanding that the rotation period is relevant, can we not make explicit that the word ‘period’ refers to this, and is NOT the outburst period? Also that the average outburst period is included in the chart header for CVs please?
