I want to get my transformation coefficients using VPhot and TG with NGC 7790 as a target. I followed instructions in TG manual, using “Load AAVSO Standard Stars” to get the comp stars. Then I generate the photometry report (clicking on Download).
In TG, I select my telescope, NGC7790 and VPhot format, then I select the 3 files (one image for each filter), then clicked on Calculate Transform Set. Nothing happens. I waiting for several minutes just to be sure it’s not just slow, but still no result and no error message.
By the way, I am using a Mac.
I believe you need to create a time series of your observations, and at the bottom of a page is a link to create a report for TG. This is not the same as the AAVSO report used to upload data to the database. Somewhere, Ken Menzies has posted a detailed step by step process for transforming data that I follow with success.
Hope that points you in the right direction. I looked for the link to Ken’s posting but did not find it.
Thanks Rick for your answer, but this is what I am basically doing, except that I can’t use the Time Series/TG-AIP4Win method as I only have one image for each filter (with a good SNR). Time Series requires to have more than one image to process for each filter.
According to the TG manual, in this case I must use the VPhot format and generate one file for each filter (using Download button, not the AAVSO Extended format), then import all the files at once in TG. I admit this is the first time I am using TG this way.
If something is wrong with the files, one would think to have some kind of error message, but nothing at all happens when I click on Calculate Transform Set button.
