Just Starting this VSO endeavor

Hi, I will be trying my best to observe both visually and imaging. I have enjoyed taking long exposures of nebula and working with PixInsight. But now I would like to do more structured observations.
I am looking at the Stellarvue 102T with a ASI2600mm pro. Using a Baader V 2” filter to start. Is this a good starting setup? I do live in Bortle 8 skies so is this even worth the effort? Thank you! Stan

This calculator might be useful to you:

The 2600 has lots of pixels and makes big files.
The calculator will allow you to see the improvements with binning 2x2.

My skies are not much better than Bortle 8. You should probably be OK.

As the 1600 is a huge chip I recommend to use a ROI after you have centered the star. Not necessary to use the full size.

Thanks Tre. Yes, I love the astronomy tool site. It is helpful with pairing scope and camera. I probably will use dynamic crop in an image container using pixinsight to apply the same roi.

Thanks. Upon further reading seems 45’ is the max. So I will crop in post processing.
