Dear spectroscopists,
Being a newbie on this forum I wonder whether it is useful to submit the spectra of reference stars (A0V stars generally) alongside the main target spectra to AVSpec?
Currently I am observing T CrB and use Alpha CrB as reference star for Instrument Response.
Thanks for your input and
Kind regards,
Nicolàs

Greetings,
The reference star is primarily used for instrumental response function correction. As part of the moderation process, we evaluate the shape of the spectrum (mostly the continuum). If anything seems off, we’ll send that spectrum back to the observer for review.
At the moment, this process appears to be adequate for our use case. As such, we would prefer that you do NOT submit spectra of your reference stars at the present time.
Kind regards,
Brian
Thanks Brian, I already suspected that, so thanks for the confirmation.
