Dr. Pala's CV program status

What is the status of Dr. Pala’s CV HST observing support program? I can’t seem to find the last list of monthly targets of opportunity and the last specific object alert seems to have been CS Ind back in August of 2024.

Thanks

Jim (DEY)

I can’t find a list of campaigns either.
There is one I wanted to re-read, and not even the search engine can find it.

Hi Ray,

Here’s the list of campaigns:

https://apps.aavso.org/v2/campaigns/

This new campaigns page has an advanced search form which may help with finding the one you want to re-read. (To show the form, click on the “Search” tab near the top of the page).

I hope this helps!

Hi Jim,

If you’re still looking for an update on Dr. Pala’s program, Elizabeth (@weo ) might be a good person to ask. One way to reach her is through the general contact address, aavso@aavso.org, so it could be a good idea to send an email there if you haven’t already. I’ll be curious to know what you learn about the target list!

Thanks Lauren

Good to know that a list exists. I expected to maybe find a link for the list on Observing / Campaigns.

I did finally stumble onto it somewhere and it was #883 which has apparently ended and is no longer on the list.

I continue to monitor it and am beginning to wonder if we could map the circumstellar disk for this one.

Hi Everyone,
I’m sorry for the delay in answering your questions about Dr. Pala’s exciting multi-year CV campaign with HST. The remaining targets are in flux, as is anticipated scheduling. I’ll post here as soon as I have more concrete information from her. In the meantime, please continue to keep an eye on the 15 VY Scl targets (Alert Notice 754: Monitoring requested for 15 VY Scl cataclysmic variables in support of HST observations (backup copy) | aavso).
Many thanks, and Good observing,
Elizabeth Waagen, AAVSO HQ

Dr. Pala will be our guest at the CV SIG meeting tomorrow. All are invited. The link to the zoom meeting is on the AAVSO calendar at

Time Check?! If times in the calendar are all in UTC then tonight at 1:00 A.M. EDT? Could we have a time check please?

Thanks. Yes, I’m worried about confusion with the time. The AAVSO calendar is correct that the time is 5PM UT on Sunday but the capital letters that tell you above aren’t nearly noticeable enough. If you click on the event and tell it to save it to your calendar, that will show the right time for your time zone on the calendar.
The right time is 5PM UT, 6PM British Summer Time, 7PM Central European daylight time, 1PM EDT, 10AM PDT.

That helps… I guess! I don’t use Google calendar for many reasons…

UTC is usually a 24 hour clock as I’m sure you know so the pm am confuses perhaps.

1:00 pm EDT on the eastern zone.

Maybe we should use JD?!

Thanks. Jim (DEY)
