Detecting Harmonics from the Phase Plot of RR CET using VStar?

Hello! I’ve been observing RR CET periodically for several years. I decided to see what is phase looks like, and it is attached for the last 5 years.
I took the VStar course several years ago, so I think I’ll use RR CET to review that.
The two humps seem standard at 0.7 and 0.9 from a quick Google search. No Blazkho effect, though I don’t know how to extract that data yet.
Just curious - which VStar tool would be best to see if there are any harmonics not immediately visible on the phase plot graph? WWZ and Fourier are what we went through in the course, if I remember correctly, though I’ve got a fair bit of reading to review! Thanks and best regards. Mike

One good thing about this review - I found three nights of problematic V-filtered observations, so I’ve asked AAVSO to delete those V-filtered images. I’m not sure how they got beyond my quality checks and were uploaded. They explain much of the scatter on the graph. Best regards. Mike

Not sure what harmonics you need. Odd harmonics are generally better for manufacturing any waveform. Are you just looking for multiples of 1/ period?

How would you apply it to anything useful?

DC DFT has a find harmonics button:

A way for me to review VStar, but I’m curious if anything is going on with RR CET over a period of years instead of weeks/months given the amount of data available. As you can tell from the data download, I had to clean up the Phase Plot - 3 runs were in error and those observations can only be deleted by headquarters given their age. Best regards. Mike

Just as an FYI: uploading the data to ChatGPT or Claude and telling it exactly what you want will deliver personalized results, needs, in about 10 minutes.

Make sure you use either (1) gpt-5.6-sol with high reasoning or (2) gpt-6-astra with any reasoning (ie, medium, but not ‘Instant’). Honestly you can probably get away with gpt-5.6-luna with max reasoning too these days, so depending on your account, this might be possible even with a free account now.

If free ChatGPT isn’t able to do it, then, assuming you have a Google account, go use Gemini 3.1 Pro or even Gemini 3.8 Flash with the uploaded data, as also the free capabilities may suffice.

Thank you. I appreciate the guidance. Best regards. Mike
