I was off by 46 minutes when I started my data collection for Qatar-3b on the evening of September 23rd, so I missed a lot of the pre-ingress data capture. Because of that, the fit is off as well as O-C and depth. Is there a way to salvage the data? Or do I really need that hour of pre-ingress data for a valid curve? Thanks, Justin
Hi Justin,
First, what program are you using for your exoplanet modeling? I see in the plot that there is a “trapezoid fit” and a “limb darkening fit” Any modeling should consider not only limb darkening but also other detrending, such as for airmass. If you you have sufficient post-egress, which it appears you do, and if there is systematics that could affect the out-of-transit data and which can be detrended out, you might be OK.

Hi Dennis, this is the output of my homegrown processing software. Detrending parameters are airmass and meridian flip. I validate with AIJ and I am seeing similar results. I don’t know enough of the data massaging to in AIJ to account for the lack of pre-ingress data.
thanks,
Justin
