Beginners help needed, star mag = 0.0000

Hi all,

New to this. I am trying to get my Dwarf 3 to work for measuring with vPhot.
I have read the vPhot manual, and managed to upload a test file.
It is the green channel of an RGB color image.
Have created the telescope profile, have modified the FITS header to get rid of BAYERPAT, added CAL = D. Upload went ok, and I can see the image is analysed and solved (variable is SS Cyg). I can click on SS Cyg and get the centroid in ADU etc. But the magnitude in the report always is 0.0000 with an error of 0.06 or 0.08.

What would I be doing wrong (probably a lot :)).

Answering my own question… how stupid of me. I had to load a sequence to be able to get a report. And I got 11.69 now for SS Cyg.
But a new question: I suppose I need to calibrate my detector, is there a recommended way to do this?

Dodi,

In telephoto mode, the Dwarf 3 has an aperture of 35mm and a focal length of 150mm. These are effectively the specifications of a guide 'scope (although with better quality optics, of course). I would pay particular attention to the error estimates (standard deviation) of photometry on stars as faint as 11th magnitude with such optics, and would be wary of attempting time series photometry.

Actually, after two nights of using the system, it looks quite ok for SS Cygni. Now using the ASTAP software for reducing. Error margin over 20 images given is 0.05 magnitude, and the observations are pretty well in line with V observations I found in the database.
But yes, there are limitations for such a small telescope.
