My ALPY600 spectra have been rejected with the following message…
Thank you for your AVSpec submission. Unfortunately your spectrum cannot be accepted in its current form due to the following:
Inaccurate wavelength calibration
The validator left the following comments:
There appears to be a significant shift of 7-8 Angstroms blueward on the blue end around 3839. This is on the cusp of what is acceptable, but could you please check this.
On page 15 of the ALPY user Document it says to focus the ALPY by pointing it at a daylight source (Sky or Window).
It shows the bare ALPY attached to the camera, while adjusting. I always used this method to focus my ALPY600, until the last time
when the Calibration module lamp was used as the light source for focusing the ALPY.
Here is my ZWO ASI533MM, ALPY600, Guiding module and Calibration module mounted. (as shown).
To focus, the screws holding the Guider external body from the guiding module were loosened so it could be removed and reinserted without adjusting the screws.
With a laptop attached running Sharpcap and the Calibration lamp lit, the calibration lines could be easily seen. Configured this way the ALPY600 could be adjusted and reinserted into the guider external body to get immediate focus feedback.
Note my guider external body shows 9 screws holding it in place. I bought additional screws to use all 9 available holes.
An image of my focused Ne/Argon calibration lines is shown.
My spectra calibration below 4000Å appear to be very good now. I hope you find this helpful.
